Web Hopping: 2007 Must See Movies, The Power of Photoshop, Cool Optical Illusions, A New Cool Addiction, And More
Hollywood seems very promising this year, so much so that critics predict 2007 to be one of the best years in cinema ever. 'Children of Men' and 'Perfume', two amazing movies currently playing in selected theaters, have set the standards for what we will bee seen in 2007. Here is a list of the '15 films to look out for' this year.
If you thought you had the world figured out, think again. Here are 50 things we know now, that we didn't know this time last year. And to say that even some scientists had concluded that there were no more discoveries to be made!
After some airbrushing even Don King can look hot. This piece on the art of retouching shows the dirt behind many magazine pictures. You will be surprise, them celebrities are not all that hot!
The Bad Astronomy Blog has a post on the top ten astronomy images of 2006. Though I don't really care about half of the picks, there are a couple that are worth reading about, including the one titled 'Painting the Eclipse' (left), which is genius.
As you probably already know, Iraqi tyrant and murderer Saddam Hussein, was executed by hanging this past Saturday for crimes against humanity, genocide, and war crimes. Here is a map of other countries that like Iraq would have taken a similar approach: Death Penalty World Map.
Deceptive and misleading!! I'm talking about optical illusions. Check out eChalk, they have a list of off the wall optical illusions that will leave you in complete shock. By the way, after a couple of these, you might notice there is a pink elephant in your room. Go play!
If you are looking for a new addiction to start the year with, Dots might be the way to go.
I think someone outsmarted Verizon (above). Sucks for whoever had to do the math. So what's the actual amount?
There is more to it than tipping a glass and acting foolish. Modern Drunkard Magazine presents 86 rules to drinking. Believe me, sometimes rules come in handy.

Just over a buck... 1.04 ish
hahahhaa....thanks for doing the math.
The answer given above is incorrect.
The first term has a value of .002.
The second term has a value of -1.
The third term has a value of +1.
(all in units of dollars)
Given that the second and third terms cancel, the value of the check is only the value of the first term. I don't know how banks round things, but I suspect it'd have to be over half a penny to be rounded up to a penny. If that were the criterion for rounding, the check would be rounded down. Then the actual value of the check would be 0.
In other words, the check is worthless.
---------------------
Here are the details.
The second term:
e^(i*pi) = cos(pi) + sin(pi) = -1 + 0 = -1.
The third term:
If one changes the beginning index to 0, this is a classic geometric series converging to a value of 2. In order to do that, one needs to subtract 1 from that zero-indexed series. Hence, the outcome is +1.
The first term is problematic:
0.002 dollars is 2/1000ths of a dollar...not even a penny.
